Sit And Wait Poem by Randy McClave

Sit And Wait

Will you come and open the gate
And then please allow me in,
Even though I might be late
And it will probably be way past 10.
I need again to set up my priorities
That indeed is the sad cost,
If not I must deal with the authorities
And sadly, our time together will be lost.
I can't tell you what I have been through
But, I do not ever want you there,
My babies they all have grew
Now at empty rooms I do sadly stare.
Our loss will not be a forever
That I do promise and I guarantee,
To lose you, I will shout out, "Never"!
I am just going to be an absentee.
If you sincerely need anything more than that
I can and I do certainly understand,
In time, like most I will get old and fat
And there won't be any strength left in my hand.
But, for now I need to do many other things
While from you I am so far away,
And remember attached to you there is no strings
But, for us I promise, I will always sit and pray.
My plants they are of course my babies
My children are the reasons why I strive,
Though they both make me sound and act crazy
They both certainly make me feel alive.
I never have kept a caring relationship
My partners have either cheated, or they have lied,
In rough waters they had all abandoned ship
So, I ended up used, and abuse, and denied.
In my purse there is no more extra door keys
Old and rusted probably now is the lock
So, when I arrive will you let me in, please
Or on the gate must I first loudly knock....

I will be there waiting at the side of the road
And yes, I will happily open the gate,
We are rembered and loved by the acts we sowed
And for you, I will always sit and wait.
