Skull Queen Poem by Philo Yan

Skull Queen

In another universe
In a faraway land
There is a Skull Queen
who rules the barren sands.

She exists in the in-between
the living and the dead
of the mind and the mindless
and the physically undead.

She sits regally on her gilded throne
carved eons ago into black mountain stone
Lives have come and lives have gone
She stays awake, but not alone.

Sounds that came from dried up bones
cackling, rattling as they kick some stones
Walking skeletons that have no soul
They keep her company with just one goal
to praise, to worship and to extol
her unseen power of lives she stole
-living bodies to mindless bones.
