Sky Gazing Poem by George Capron

Sky Gazing

Quietly I sit and watch the sky
Clouds of grey and white pass by
With shapes and forms testing my mind’s eye
Against a backdrop of azure blue
While the gentle breeze wafts through

The tree tops green are closer drawn
As this wonderful scene passes on
Then in the sky with the same hue
Passes more cloud forms for me to view.
I see a lion's face with open mouth,
Then I see a giant man
I can almost hear him shout

On and on as I look to the skies
I see clouds hanging low, even as they go
New ones arrive and test my eyes.
They now come and cover the sun
As they pass by one by one.
I see a man with pipe in mouth.

A woman too with limbs that’s stout.
The sun shows his power, as he shines through
Burning into my head, as I
Change my view. Like magic it all
Passes by and returns anew.
It’s a wondrous day, through and through.
