Sleep And Close Your Eyes Poem by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen

Sleep And Close Your Eyes

Sleep when the dogs begin to bark
When cicadas start to sing their songs-
Sleep when the moon shines no more
When the radio and TV are turned off
And what remains is silence in the night.

Sleep, my dear, and close your eyes
Forget your troubles which sadden your heart
Sleep and dream sweet dreams of hope
To bring you to the new day of delight
Sleep, my dear, and close your eyes.
