Sleep Journeys Poem by Alison Mujati

Sleep Journeys

Sleep journeys

As eyelashes converge
Drowsy and drawing a familiar stage

A new motionless chamber
Shutting the other to another.

Silent night alive is a new lengthy page.
Dead but still alive in a docile rage.

It warrants a thousand questions.
Still, I sleep with no taunting notions

Designed and decreed
Favour enhances my sinless deed

The rallying the podium
I know a billion dozen souls join the pandemonium.

Each is challenged in different ways.
Toddlers taunting with toys.

Nightmares, worst-case schemes
Artists around their dreams create memes.

I slither just this day I'm slime
Perfect green like lime.

Down to days of childhood
And pay no attention to owls hooting in the hood.

An infant spoon-fed to a slumber.
Oh how beautiful is amber

Evil is coming but not as yet
Cow pets always need a vet

We don't prophesy in our entity.
Post bliss comes bad energy.

Oh I meet my sweet mother
My sweet late mother

Her smile radiating calmly to embrace my glee
Behold, a sparkling morning star above an oak tree

Oh my beautiful goddess
Her long absence stirred my hidden madness.

Just to realize it's not her fault to leave before time.
I could buy her back with a dime.

Love is stronger than judgement.
God planned this arrangement.

I dine within it over a smiling face.
Earthly journals still suffer battles of race.

Our break with words lead to tears
Accounts were unsolved because of a backlash of arrears.

Still, joy stood aloof beside us
One bad memory wouldn't destroy us.

Time is never on our side
Time always takes us for a ride

The more we wish for longevity,
The less we dwell upon it.

My little fairy journey crumbled
A bang at the door left me humble.

My neighbour came to ask for the keys.
He misplaced his, a visitor had come
