Slice Poem by Allen Ross

Slice

I've got a house with a roof that needs fixing,
a 98 Windstar in need of repair,
an ex-wife and check book I've been missing,
a boss that don't listen and a job that's nowhere.
I've got a crazy dream my golf game will get better.
I've got a slice, why not a piece of the pie?

I've got some kids that ask too many questions,
a neighbor with a dog I'd like to take for a walk,
a phone that's about to be disconnected,
time on my hands and no time to talk.
I've got just enough change and a coupon for the pizza.
I've got a slice, why not a piece of the pie?

We all want something more
until we all want something less.
Some of us are lucky
and some of us are blessed.

I've got a book that I just started reading,
a doctor who says don't let it go to your head,
some friends who know just what I'm needing,
the facts and figures, but they're all in the red.
I've got everything between apples and oranges.
I've got a slice, why not a piece of the pie?
