Slighted? Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Slighted?

I missed your smile at the beginning of the day
You passed by, but looked the other way
As though swept up in a wind of distraction
Your sudden haste left me reduced to a fraction

My ache for a familiar sight is now dissatisfied
The morning start to my day has gone awry
As I proceed, flowers pale and no longer glisten
The blue of the sky fades and my gait stiffens

Now I wonder about my selfish dependency
Your radiance is an expected fact of complacency
In retrospect, I now begin to realize with gravity
The lack of your glow binds my mind with perplexity

I should not be feel rebuffed or totally ignored
I should be concerned about you… not discord
Perhaps your day began with unpleasant news
I hope that your personal circumstance improves
