Sm014. Mother's Non-Violence

THE MOTHER OF PONDICHERRY

Once Mother said that violence
Is justified only in self-defense,
But in her life, she found no use
For violence against any violence.

When someone tried to harm her,
She tried to correct his behavior,
Instead of punishing him for that
Under the general rule "Tit for Tat."

Her mercy always she had shown,
Good or bad, to every person,
With her feeling of compassion
To bring back to her fold each one.

Her blessings to a single person,
Spread, far and wide, like a chain,
To his several business dependants,
Who didn't ask for her blessings.

When the business of a factory,
Went down bad suddenly,
Mother blessed that Director
When he approached her.

His business picked up very fast,
Helping his friends also at last,
Who supplied him spare parts,
For many years in the past.

Instances of this kind were
Many to report them all here,
But a merciful Goddess she was
That showed in all her actions.

One more instance to quote.
One devotee lived in a hut,
On the top of a hillock,
Without any water to drink.

One day, a wet surface he found,
From which some water leaked,
And deep below water gushed out,
Making all the surroundings wet.

Later on, the dry village down,
Became soon a water-rich-zone,
Because of Mother's help to one,
It served also others, besides one.
