THE MOTHER OF PONDICHERRY

Besides the one, Sri Aurobindo Ashram,
The whole world was another Ashram
To Mother as all lives in the world come
Under her protective control all the time.

On 17-11-1973 evening, a devotee
Saw a huge light on the sky above,
Brokedown into millions of sparks
Thus falling on all Earth's surfaces.

All these sparks one by one entered
Into the heart of a person in the end,
To show that something unexpected
Was to happen then in the world.

Next day the All India Radio blared
A tragic message which all heard,
That the Mother suddenly attained
Mahasamadhi, that was unexpected.

*Mahasamadhi = A realized person left her body

By visiting her Samadhi one gets
Spiritual knowledge and experience,
That takes one in the path of Divine,
And his soul getting spiritual realization.

Mother until her last moment,
In her 30 years living on that site,
She managed herself the affairs
Of the Ashram with no troubles.

How to keep books and floors,
She taught everyone for hours,
Also, she herself cooked meals
And served all the devotees.

She even travelled outside,
Whenever there was a demand
For her to procure provisions,
Or any costly household things.

She went to buy teakwood,
And also durable rosewood,
For making, in costly wood,
Furniture to Sri Aurobindo.


She developed 50 departments,
Hundred own service buildings,
300 residential rented buildings,
A press, a workshop, and guest houses.

Cement casting factory shop,
An international school's upkeep,
To maintain a land of 2000 acres
A book shop and photo studios.

Also sports grounds, restaurants,
All those daily loads of works,
Kept Mother too busy always,
With no time left for her rests.
