Small Minds Poem by Andreas Classen

Small Minds

Rating: 5.0

(original full length version)

Small minds just need dope and games

They are elected so they are to blame.

Fighting for justice is a loosing game.

You're watching the game your conscience is clear,

You don't need to act, you still do have beer.

Who is pressing the buttons on your remote?

Can't think for yourself but still you may vote.

Small minds just need dope and games

Freedom of speech: You don't know what to say.

Freedom of thought: You don't think anyway.

You have a vote but on you they all prey,

watching and doping your life wastes away.

The people immature is still in its puberty.

Millions out of work are just a minority

Small minds just need dope and games

Ideas secondhand make you march uniform,

freedom exists only inside their norm.

Dead fish are on their way downstream.

Rotting heads stink unable to dream.

Your life has no meaning except as a cogwheel

in the monstrous machinery that runs for their goal.

Small minds just need dope and games

Work for your enemy, your labour‘s for free.

Work just to pay tax, that's not for me.

They claim your wealth and fabricate truth.

Reject all their drugs, there's nothing to loose.

Electronic and chemical but still they are chains,

switch off your TV, use what's left of your brains!

Small minds just need dope and games

Down from the couch and into the street!

If You don't fight you're already dead meat.

New social apartheid along lines of class

You'll never emancipate while you sit on your arse.

"Get up stand up for your right"

How about let's say tonight?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
One day a friend of mine, a keyboarder and composer in reggae, came to me with a sheet of paper with some ideas on it that he wanted to put into a song. And he asked me if I could do English lyrics for him. I liked his ideas so I went to work. When he had mated my resulting poem with one of his riddims some parts were omitted. I like the result but that makes the original full length version a poem in it's own right.
The song can be heard under T.G. Projekt - Small Minds on YouTube.

It was released in 2007 on the CD that came with Riddim magazine in Germany, England and on Jamaica.

That's the bio I wrote for his website:

T.G.-Project
has it's name for a cause. Thomas Gheorghiu not only started the project long ago but he also is the composer of all its material, arranger and producer of all tracks, plays all the instruments and finally makes others work for the project.
What does he need other people in the project for?
Elle McWood, his real-life sister has the talented voice so he made her train it and sing.
He grew up in a working-class neighborhood in our hometown Düren (You absolutely do not have to know where that is) . Thomas went to the typical public school where you are trained to be lower class. Not to follow that track laid out for him he quit his apprenticeship as a plumber taught himself to play keyboards and has been living on social security most of the time ever since.
