Small Town Can Do Poem by Terence George Craddock

I came from a small town rural area
in a time and culture where 'Just do it! '
was a given work got done well fast

if something needed
doing it was done
now councils bring in

excessively paid experts
with no local knowledge
of an area to make decisions

years in the making
often not wise
often not realistic

rarely cost effective
rarely done well completed
on time in set budget

past workers
got stuck in
got a job done

got the job done well fast
often as lend a hand volunteers
with no pay little thanks
