Small-Town Gossip Poem by Ray Hansell

Small-Town Gossip

The tears stream down her face
Somehow, she's lost her place

Once she was the toast of the town
Now everybody talks her down

Some people aren't to sure
Just how much she can endure

She used to be married with a family of four
Now, no one greets her as she walk through the door

What she once had, has now been lost
It has all come at a terrible cost

She had affair with a man in town
Like wild fire the word spread around

When her husband found out her soon left
Broken hearted and depressed

Her children went with him to get away
They all left in a hurry without delay

She though she loved this other man
Too late she came to understand

Some things in life can't be undone
You can think of leaving but there's no place to run

Sometimes we do things without much thought
Paying a price and learning, a lesson taught

Some may think life is better on the other side
You may run away but, from yourself you can't hide
