Small Town Senior Center Poem by Daniel Miltz

Small Town Senior Center

Rating: 5.0

Hi, how are you
As I casually stroll
Slowly, hither and yon
I see phantoms of youth
Tottering genteely
In small town senior center

And as I ventured on
Whispers congregate
Some, pikestaff in hand
Eyes of gold, drowsy
Still, wit and charm blend
In small town senior center

Moseying, gradually, I hear
They say that I am growing old
I'm still young and full of pep
But, Oh God
It's time for bingo, knit, crib and cups of tea
In small town senior center

However, now I watch
Getting a charge
Out of each passing moment
Golden girls and boys
Walking slowly, drowsily wandering
In small town senior center
