Snowdrop Poem by Soumili Karmakar

Snowdrop

Snowdrop, we breath in for the purpose that you gifted us
It has been a while since the eyes closed to rest
Fresh air and early spring and chirpings from the nest.
Of a time with lush green petals and snow on the ground,
Of a kindness of countenance inspiring the minds around.

Tiny and delicate as you are though quite cold in regions to find emerald and gold
The children of winter and of spring
Snowdrop, you resemble the distant star
With hopes of dandelions in full moon nights
In the eyes and hearts of blossoming flowers born to sing.

I hear the definitions of beauty and of sorrow
Perhaps the center of the universe is our rainbow,
Perhaps everyday tenderness sits on your petals
In the joy of sun's radiation with depths of loss and of known struggles.

That compassion mirroring our life is composed of infinite times;
Times that must have been so true and pure
Beyond the sky of days and of nights
Of experiences of unknown living mountains and of seas
Being safe unspeakingly conscious in their own journeying breeze.

It was an early morning rain as the sky wrote epistles to the universe
Snowdrop, the twisted roots from deep in the earth breathes through you
Snowdrop, the mist upon the moss glows softly for you.
Silence and Endurance brought golden streams
Snowdrop, your sweetness infused breath to the arrival of spring.

For once and for all life shows a love
A love that lives and dies,
And yet seems to breathe with no flesh and blood
An imprint to me like the starlight of the galaxies.

Snowdrop, your presence in the pair of my eyes
Is of acceptance and of light
Snowdrop, I've found our sky in the colours of blue and of white
So today when I breathe and I see
I find you in truths of my life with the children of spring.
