So Different Poem by Linda Engwall

So Different

As I look back so many memories
Flooding through me
Looking at all the pictures telling me
It wasn't all so bad

Still you tell me differently
So I must learn to let that go and
Listen to your rendition

Knowing this is how it needs to plays out
When you are not given
Your turn to say
How you felt
To be you
When you had no voice
No way to stop any of it

So why do I still think how different
It would all be if
You didn't paint it all so sadly

So round and round
We go
Your story
My story
All so different

Still wishing it was different now
Than the story we tell
Each other

Thinking how different it would all be if we could
Just let it go now
Finding a peace in knowing that we
Did the best we could
At that moment

Hoping it doesn't have to be all that different between
You and me
