So Many Days Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

So Many Days

Seems the cold rainy day
Discouragement did bring
Lonliness decided to stay
With its familiar sting

When my mind is left to wander
No place that feels like home
Empty days I squander
In darkness I roam

It was such a blow
I can't reconcile
Why she injured me so
took away my smile

So many joys were broken
So many precious things lost
So many angry words spoken
Not knowing their true cost

Four or more years removed
the wounds have not healed
The pain never soothed
Just shrouded and concealed
