So Many Psalms! Poem by Denis Martindale

So Many Psalms!

So many Psalms bring comfort still across the centuries,
For those who seek to do God's will and nestle in His peace.
They fortify each noble thought, instilling grace sublime,
As God blessed men with each Psalm taught across the span of time.

The Psalmist David sought the Lord throughout his years on Earth,
And miracles were his reward, as witness to his worth.
And even though he sinned, he knew that God could still forgive,
And stay His faithful shepherd through the decades he would live.

His Psalms were loved by many men across the years to come.
Recalled by millions now and then. Yes, millions, not just some.
His eyes were on God's perfect plans, the Saviour yet to be,
Some even say he saw Christ's hands when pierced at Calvary.

Psalm Twenty-Two portrays God's Son, a truth so many miss,
Yet on His Cross, God's Holy One, our Saviour, quoted this.
Fulfilling prophecies galore, upon that sacred day,
Christ sacrificed His life and more, our sins, to take away.

So many Psalms are there to seek, to read and to recite,
Turned into hymns that are unique and sung by day and night.
Where Christ the Lord is loved always by those who serve God's will,
Our God abides in perfect praise in faithful Churches still.

Denis Martindale.15th of April 2026.

One day, I visited a local Christian bookshop.
After I had bought myself a beautiful Holy Bible,
I opened it at random and yet, to my surprise
in Psalm Twenty-Two and Psalm Twenty-Three.
To millions of others, it didn't mean anything, but
I'm telling you, at that special moment in time,
it meant the whole world to me.
