So Slow. Poem by Michael Walker

So Slow.

Rating: 5.0

'You are slow to decide, but you get there eventually',
a psychologist told me years ago, intuitively.
I took her opinion as an insightful vision,
as I was prone then to decisions and revisions.

I was slow to sign tenancy agreements on the dotted line
questioning myself about high rent and the outlook at times.
When I bought my own home, though, it was 'Sydney or the bush',
having driven around seeing properties in an adrenaline rush.

Indeed, my life had led up to this signature moment
when I no longer felt like a gypsy-like transient.
My new-found clout was the keys to the front door
which I turned in the lock to a new life, what they were for.

When I examine my decision-making process under a microscope,
I see fast rash choices when young; slower ones when older, like
looking through a telescope.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Like most people, I have evolved and changed over time, regarding making up my mind what action to take, if there are options on the table. I am a mixture of fast and slow decisions and actions, proving, I think, that human nature is not simple but complex.
