So That Only You Remain Poem by Sarah ButlerArgo

So That Only You Remain

I have proved myself unworthy time and time again, though you take me back relentlessly and overlook my sin. I’m not made of much but you can have it all, my Lord, because in the losing of this life I gain my eternal reward. But why do you want me God, what am I to you? In this world filled with people little change comes from what I do, yet you seek me out from darkness and you call me by my name…you want me to be yours and it’s my broken heart you claim. Every good thing inside me is of you and you alone and the boasting that I do will be to glorify your throne, for there is nothing of myself that is worthy to be praised but for you Lord every hand in every nation should be raised. Do they not see the sky that you painted by hand? Or the beauty of the tide as your ocean hits your sand? These general revelations point to an author, a creator, and I’m humbled by the splendor of my everlasting Savior. With my debt nailed to the cross, my King bled it all away because he loves the sinful heart inside the girl he made from clay. Sufficient for my thirsty soul, you are all that I desire and like wood for a fire you are all that I require. You’ve cleaned me from the inside out, scrubbed my darkest stain, and I want me out of me so that only you remain.
