When I put down my pipe...
My eyes cried for a bit
then I began to see
my life was beautiful
and it belonged to me

When I put down my pipe...
I saw the world brighter
I heard the birds singing
I danced in the court-yard
where church bells were ringing

When I put down my pipe...
I saw the sun come up
watched it burn away fog
and rise with the clouds
reducing the smog

When I put down my pipe...
and I gave up the drugs
I thought I was healed
didn't know what to do
but then God was revealed
