I see that soldier's name on the wall
Sadly he did fall,
He gave his life for his country
He sacrificed it for both you and me.
That soldier had a great life planned ahead
He was to become a farmer many times he said,
He wanted to carry on a family tradition
And give the children nutrition.
Then he was going to take himself a wife
And hold on unto her for the rest of his life,
They would always go to church together
Then soon, he'd be a father and she a mother.
He had never lied or stole or cheated
No one did he ever used or stole from or mistreated,
He was no better than either me or you
To that fact and belief he was always true.
He had calluses on both his hands
That fact and feelings workers understands,
He believed man must work hard for his pay
Then he will enjoy his labors that way.
He always donated his time, his clothes, even his blood
Because, people he cared for and people he loved
At church he attended every Wednesday and Sunday
He loved to worship and the fellowship and to pray.
He indeed was like no other
He is, or was of course my older brother,
Pride, religion and patriotism was what he prefers,
I wish though, that he had bone spurs.
