Soldiers Of The World Poem by Randy McClave

Soldiers Of The World

I wish that every single soldier
In every country around the world,
All soldiers who stand for all rights and freedom
Who supports their flags furled and unfurled.
I wish the soldiers standing on every single side
Would remove their helmets and lay down their rifle,
Sit down on the ground underneath a tree
And then look about themselves and get an eyeful.
I hope that they will see their country's citizens
The poor and the needy and the working class,
The ranks from where they also came from
As they all sit near a tree on the grass.
I hope that then the soldiers now see the wealthy
And see how they need and always want much more,
None of them are in those soldiers ranks
And because of them there's always a war.
Now I would wish all those brave soldiers would then stand
Knowing that they're plenty of rich folks that wants to fight,
Then I wish that all the soldiers of the world
Would give the rich and the wealthy their guns tonight.
