Someone Else's Eyes Poem by David Wirth

Someone Else's Eyes

Rating: 4.5

As I look through the eyes of an elder,
I see a world I don't understand.
With to many changes far beyond their years,
they see the world has a different plan.
So to life they cling with a firm embrace,
and with God they will find their shelter.
But oh' what a beautiful sight to see,
seeing the world through the eyes of and elder.

Now as I look through the eyes of a peer,
I see a world that is changing to fast.
Can I keep up or should I let go,
that is the question I ask.
For is it good, these changes and pace?
Is it done with confidence or fear.
It is with uncertainty this sight I see,
seeing the world through the eyes of a peer.

When I look through the eyes of a child,
I see a world that is very confused.
Must be the fear prevailed and the confidence lost,
and guilty are we the accused.
Now with the changes and fears of what will be,
we can come out from amongst the wild.
For it is a frightening sight I see,
seeing the world through the eyes of a child.

Now maybe it's right and maybe it's wrong
and maybe it don't matter at all.
But seeing the world through someone else's eyes
was something I was glad I saw
Because now I begin to understand and also to realize.
That it's not all that terrible anymore,
seeing the world through my own eyes.

Beautiful piece of poetry, well articulated and insightfully penned with conviction. Indeed one's perception of life depends on one's world outlook. Point of view depends on perspective. A lovely poem with good rhyme scheme. Thanks for sharing David and do remain blessed. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
