Something Less Beautiful - Poem by Moth Harris

Well we lay down with so much apathy
The person on Tv seems to just laugh at me
When I close my eyes...
Oh and I almost forget to tell you
She told me she felt true
Before all of the lies...

So I packed my bags with old clothes
And a dirty sheet, my heart inside
I guess no one knows
Why I walk down the street but atleast I tried
To explain how I'm gonna die...

So I guess the sad singer is singin'
Oh but I'm swingin' my feet
I hum along to the tune
Snap my fingers to the beat
Oh that's how I'm gonna die...

Well we wake up with so much faith
The person on Tv says it's just a waste
When I close my eyes...
I remember how life used to be
She told me she liked the color blue

I spend so much time writing such beautiful things
So I decided to write one a little off beat
A scratchy mix of solace and sighs
With a ton of slant rhymes
That don't make sence at all...

{I wrote my whole life out in words
and it turned out a little like this
About a page,
It don't make sence at all...}

Now I'm happily singin' my song so blue
Got my girl and my music, Got her singin' it too
Maybe someday we'll get married and have a kid
Just like all of those empty people did
Thinking it would bring them closer

Now I'm happily singin' my song so blue
Yeah but now I'm glad to be singing it with you
Oh and you're singin' it too
It goes something like this
'If we keep talking about nothing
It makes so much sence
We can keep out the past
And stay on this side of the fence
No memories
Just present tense
and I'm so in love with you

Well I'm not the type to talk on for long
In fact I'm quite a quiet guy
Well im not the type to talk or to sing a song
So I don't even know why
Oh but this is how I'm gonna die'

I guess I gotta stop somewhere
So why not here
I guess I gotta go and write something more beautiful
because this one's got no beat no rythme
and nothings worth the rhyme
But I'm glad if you'd take the time
To find meaning in something less beautiful.
