Something You Never Like... Poem by RIC BASTASA

there was something which was done to you
and which you did not really like
which made you feel that you are about to erupt
like a volcano
but which continues to be there and you do nothing
and you just keep it with all patience
trying to understand that in the first place she never
really intended to hurt you but just the same you were hurt and she confesses that she knew all along that you were hurt
but that she cannot help it and she had no more control
over what is happening and you contemplate many times
to leave and every day you think of leaving and yet you never
left anyway and thing go on and on and on and on
every day, every hour, every minute
until you feel so numb that you consider all these as normal
occurrences and you tolerate it and then nothing becomes
meaningful because it does not hurt anymore as though meaning comes only when there is this hurt
this pain, and this utmost tolerance beyond the doors
of its threshold and then you say, here i am, i am numb, i am strong and i am invincible.
