Song For Peace Poem by Bireswar Halder

Song For Peace

I'll fly wherever I wish in the blue sky like a free bird
Don't put me under shackles anymore with worldly pleasures
This keeps me tied to bonds always, leaving me unhappy
I long to be free from all sorts of attachments, all frills of life.

I'll flow freely like currents of a river at my own sweet will
Erect no obstacles to restrict my journey for meeting with the sea
It's a long way from the source to reach a final destination with hope
I like to serve in various ways to the humanity before destination comes.

I'll sing melodious songs to eradicate pains of fellow beings
Songs of life will be a beacon for all those who're beleaguered
My life is not for myself, but for serving my fellow countrymen
So I like to sing song which will lead them from darkness to light

I'll share smiles with all those dreary souls to overcome all troubles
Smiles offer the best medicine to get rid of impurity and evil mind
Losing mirthful smiles may lead us to all forms of misdeeds and agony
I'll spread loving smiles to inspire new lease of life for the discontented.

I'll maintain equality with all- -the rich and the poor alike
A flow of love and compassion be showered to everyone around
As we all are the children of the Almighty—no cruelty to anybody
I will surely infuse brotherhood and tranquility into all my countrymen.
