Song Of The Tribe Poem by Enikanoselu Seyi

Song Of The Tribe

Rating: 5.0

Seeing an old hen for sale,
Before purchasing, question yourself,
If it had laid and hatched twenties,
Will it have been brought to the market?

Seeing an old man dancing in the lane,
Without a song or music,
If he had been sane,
Will his relatives have exposed him to ridicule?

Seeing a lad swallowing his spit,
With a calabash garnished with flies,
If the calabash had been flourished with food,
Will he have welcomed any intruder?

We are all the same -
Vowing to save the unsaved world,
If the mind to rescue is ours,
Why must we have laboured in vain?
