Songs Of Emptiness Poem by Gautam Sen

Songs Of Emptiness

Songs on top of the strumming strings
with its refulgent splendor,
made reverberations filled with pings
so void and empty, you wonder-
Where's your mother fonder?

You spend of late more time on strings.
full of traces of melodies
entrance and enthrall air to sing
unsung tragic stories
of her shining glories.

Resounds Don McLean's 'Empty Chairs',
befitting your glum mind
you sing with grief of missing care
a great way to remind -
those memories left behind.

Your voice revived my darkened soul,
you fed my empty mind,
see your mom grinning to extol
tribute of song entwined -
great soiree of a kind.

Thanks to Don & my gifted son
for emotion-stirring song,
I sail through ethereal ocean
to reach her without throngs,
so let this tune prolong.

[My son used to sing the famous song 'Empty Chair' by Don McLean with his guitar, as it helped him to commemorate the sad demise of his mother quite untimely. I expressed my gratitude to him as it helped me to do so too.]
