Sonnet 22 Poem by doug bentley

Sonnet 22

Rating: 5.0

reeling through the nether worlds
a single tablet in spacetime fell
to land in no region known to scholars,
janus face bespeaking heaven or hell.

undeciphered for centuries, its blank wall,
steely surface more solid than diamond,
stood silent. it made Man appear small,
Man knowing neither meaning nor omen.

how long it had been, who made it, where
from? - no penetration to queries found,
the monolith just stood, stood there
tombstone silent on ghostly ground.

there's nothing to do. so stand and gaze
'til the obelisk feels sun's focal rays!
