Sonnet: A Thought In Time Poem by Darryn John Murphy

Sonnet: A Thought In Time

Even when time ticks slowly by
The scent of freshly brewed coffee fills the room
Beyond thy window Venus glistens in the morning shy
Beneath the silent silhouette of a silver moon
Children slept tucked in their beds
Alone in this room beneath a celestial sea of light
While thoughts rattled inside my head
I waited awhile before I surrendered to my plight
Dawn awaits beyond the break
I watch the stars from this satellite that I call home
As the horizon slowly stirs in wait
But in this universe are we really all alone
I’ve felt your pain and heard your tears
Unravelling passage from yonder years
