Sonnet: An Unfair World… Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: An Unfair World…

How well you did your duty upon earth,
In every role that God had blessed you with!
How well you served your patients, full of mirth,
And showed your love to neighbours, kin and kith!

But Lo! When children grow into adults,
And set their homes of own comfortably,
Ignoring you and raining down insults,
Instead of treating you adorably?

The love you gave remains unrequited;
The world doesn't care for elderly enough;
'Tis sad to see your loved ones divided;
The aged know not to lament or to laugh!

Yet, God expects each one to render love;
Rewards will come in His abode above!

Fondly dedicated to my beloved family doctors
Mrs & Mr Drs Thiagarajans, Damunagar, Puliakulam Coimbatore
‘God bless you both! '

The aged know not to lament or to laugh! If the parents are independent, then it will be all right, but the dependent parents who had spent all their life savings for the children's education are the ones, mostly affected in the current scenario...We are hearing story after story..Well written poem, Dr. John Celes..
