Sonnet: Count Your Blessings Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Count Your Blessings

The God who made you has been kind to you;
Even the distant stars to Him aren’t far;
More blessings come if things aright you do;
Be happy for being the way you are!

So, count your blessings, name them one by one;
A God of love has blessed you after all;
To all alike, He gives the rain and sun;
He lifts you up, if you happen to fall.

Do you deserve the life you now enjoy?
Discontent lies in human mind’s, heart’s core;
Without some woes, there cannot come mere joy!
What have you done that God should bless you more?

The grace of God has kept you safe and good;
Try thanking, praising Him, whenev’r you could.
