Sonnet: People In Power Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: People In Power

Rating: 4.0

Most people in power forget just one thing -
They miss the chance to do good things in life,
And live in selfishness and pride, like a king,
Notbothered of the common man in strife!

And all seems well as long as joys persist,
And wealth ill-gotten accrues sans effort;
With air of superiority, they insist
That all are refugees within their fort!

When health is gone, they see the light of things;
The guilt of tyranny upsets their heart;
And newer woes and sufferings, life brings,
Until with broken heart, they all depart!

God gives one power to help unlucky ones;
You cannot bowl, bat, field and score big runs!
