Sonnet with morpheus

at first the air is sweet with soft intoxication
as we eat this cake our eyelids snap shut one by one
then the world bends inwards in its dislocation
but in our breast only this silent beat goes on

this is music to send me nodding off
and all I can see then is this grass
I'm getting weary of seeing things like van gogh
the almond cutting is flowering white in the cloudy water glass
