me that I've been unable to find the exit through
the right door got into trains going in the wrong
direction it was a station I only half recognised

First snow

you say you already knew as you walked
to the window it's the blackbird eyeing us there
as deeply as you lying in my arms it held

the magnolias are still not
yet at their zenith however
something's pressing my left
eyelid and sending shockwaves

Sonnet with morpheus

at first the air is sweet with soft intoxication
as we eat this cake our eyelids snap shut one by one
then the world bends inwards in its dislocation
but in our breast only this silent beat goes on


this valley as good as any in the softly carved
hollow of its trough-like form holds in its folds
some secret that disperses to nothing before
