Sonnet Xii - Oh Winter, With Thuy Cold Unyielding Touch Poem by Valerie Dohren

Sonnet Xii - Oh Winter, With Thuy Cold Unyielding Touch

Oh Winter, with thy cold unyielding touch
Upon the land thy bitter spell is laid
The ground beneath all feet gives not to such
That footprints soft be there in comfort made
Unflinching is thy hold upon the earth
Upon all things that thrive in summer's heat
And all awaiting springtime's sweet rebirth
When all that's set around is full replete
Oh Winter, how thy grip is harsh and tight
To render all within thy grasp undone
Thy darkness brings an all-embracing night
Denying thus the warm and brightling sun
………. All hearts beset with Winter's frigid beat
………. Shall soften thus when held by Summer's heat
