Sonnet Xix - Oh How My Heart Is Full With Dark Dismay Poem by Valerie Dohren

Sonnet Xix - Oh How My Heart Is Full With Dark Dismay

Sonnet XIX - Oh How My Heart Is Full With Dark Dismay

Oh how my heart is full with dark dismay
For thou art but a memory now cast
Within the shadows of all yesterday
And, too, within the heav'nly realms so vast -
I cannot sleep nor think beyond such ache
Through all this life you were my one true love
From dawn ‘til dusk mine heart does yet so break
To end such woe, I reach to Him above
Oh come to me, come in my dreaming hours
That I may see your visage once again
Bedeck my room with all sweet-scented flowers
To thus enchant, and so curtail my pain
………… My love, my love, I beg for thy return
………… That all our passions may once more yet burn
