Sonnet Xxiv - Mine Eyes Are Turned Towards The Fading Light Poem by Valerie Dohren

Sonnet Xxiv - Mine Eyes Are Turned Towards The Fading Light

Mine eyes are turned towards the fading light
Away from all the glitter of the day
Upon the coming of the dark'ning night
When all the world has meetly slipped away
My weary soul to rest in calm repose
And languish in the setting of the sun
Then gently, gently greet the nearing close
When all is full completed and thus done
And as the twilight steals my feeble heart
Into the shadowed reaches then to fall
Across the silent sea to sail and chart
And answer thus the night's eternal call
………… Oh mellowed night of everlasting peace
………… Take this, my soul, unto thy sweet release
