O Willow, lovely Weeping Willow tree
Beneath thy boughs I'll sing my sad refrain
A song of how our love can never be
And how this yearning yet be all in vain
Provider of a refuge for my heart
Beneath your canopy I take my leave
Away from all that keeps us set apart
That foolishly I may then still believe
For I am wont to think that he is mine
And cannot ever let him slip away
His visage is to me yet so divine
That I must ever beg him thus to stay
………… Oh Willow, how thy tears so touch my soul
………… That I would ever beg thee to console
