Sonnett Of An Old Man Poem by soren Barrett

Sonnett Of An Old Man

He sucked his pipe as babe on mother's breast
Lover's tongue fondled nipple most tender
Around firm rounded bowl fingers were pressed
Smoke dreams burnt out in ash of an ember

Thatched roof dusted with snow, showing bare spots
Below azure artesian pools, glazed over
Oozing down skin canyons, marks of time's rots
Liquid memories, life, now October

Frothing spit, mother's milk, drips from his lip
Frosted sprouts, three days of shade paint his chin
From beer's canned fountain of youth, takes a sip
Broken yellow stones peak through toothless grin

Eroded remnants of Adam's first sin
Now only half the man he once had been
