Soothing Summer Storm Poem by C Richard Miles

Soothing Summer Storm

City streets are still too thronged to sleep.
Plans for peaceful nights are long delayed.
Air hangs heavy in the humid heat.
Sirens scream their summer serenade.
Lightning lifts gloom momentarily.
Thunder rumbles in the scowling sky.
Hailstones hammer, stripping leaf from tree.
Lashing rain drowns all that once was dry.
Huddled hoodies shelter from the storm.
Tempers cool as closeness conquers fear.
Hatred loses heat as friendships form.
Enemies call pax now evening’s here.
Urban war will cease a while its blight.
Nature’s anger’s worse than man’s tonight.
