Sorry Might Never Be Enough Poem by Ilana Friedman

Sorry Might Never Be Enough

Rating: 5.0

I scared you off and let you down,
I turned your smile upside down.

I told you my story when you had your hands full.
I pushed you away when I meant to pull.

I never wanted to cause you this pain
but now I feel it too and it hurts just the same.

The words “I’m sorry” seem like they will never be enough.
This is the opposite of easy and much more than just tough.

What’s done is done and I’ve made my mistake.
But this silence is too much and I’m about to break.

And although I’ve never said the words out loud,
I love you just the same and I wish you were around.

I hope you know that those words are true
and I wish you could realize how much I need you.

As I anxiously wait to hear from you again,
I can only trust the relationship we had back then.

Those were the days when I never let you down,
back when your smile was almost never upside down.
