Soul Poem by Valerie Anderson

Soul

Rating: 5.0

Rain pounding hard against the glass.
Brown eyes turn molten against the fire’s glowing embers.
A lullaby plays in the background.
The storm clouds hide a lovely moon.
And the candle light’s beams, a dream catcher and someone’s dream.

The rain hitting the rippling waters.
The clouds move across the moon almost lazily.
The wind howls against the house.
Thoughts rushing by.
Nothing seems real.

Thinking and pondering.
A warm blanket surrounds and envelopes her.
Eyes glazed over, eyelids fall down.
Fire light playing over her face.
Casting shadows over the walls and down the length of the hall way.

Eyes slowly open.
Gazing outside, watching the lightning crackle against a purple and crimson sky.
No one to hold her and comfort.
No other warmth in the room to strength her.
Once again, her eyes close.
A gush of breath rushes into her lungs.
But never goes back out.
As her body sits there, her soul rises.
