Soulfully Mine Poem by Sumali Nagarajan

Soulfully Mine

A chance encounter
At a holiday resort
So strong the attraction
Felt close to my heart
Even though
Just a child
I never forgot
Those were Birds of Paradise.

On a road trip
In Netherlands
After a turn
All of a sudden
A field of Poppies
Exploding in unison
We get down
For a closer look
The color, the charisma
My breath, away it took.

Yellow, white, pink and red
Symbolizing love
All over the world
Roses are supreme
But have you seen
Black, blue n green
That is a sight
I can never forget
Though a red rose
Is still my favorite.

Last but not least
Are Vanda Orchids
To me, recently introduced
Even at first sight
I was seduced
Most of all
Their asymmetry confounds me
Makes me think profoundly
Delicate n sensitive
Yet showy n provocative
No wonder they are
Owner's pride
But now they are
Soulfully mine.
