Soupe Du Jour #2 Poem by George Hunter

Soupe Du Jour #2

Soupe Du Jour, Soupe Du Jour,
Don’t ever order Soupe Du Jour.
It would probably be a sin
If I really knew what’s in
That great big bowl of Soupe Du Jour
It’s best to pour it on the floor.

What is that weird thing floating there?
Could it be a red cat hair?
A long thing drifting seems to squirm
Is it vermicelli or real worm?
I’m sure they’re trying me to dupe
By putting strange things in my soup.

I should order something new
God only knows what’s in this stew.
This soupophobia’s got me down
I probably shouldn’t come uptown.
I should have listened to my mater
Who always said,
“Eat it first and worry later! ”
