South African White Rhino Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

South African White Rhino

Rating: 5.0

South African treasure
Wide mouth and crashing
A suffocating hot oppressive sun
Statue still, slowly stirring
Dusty mountain moving

Plates and horns menacing, revealing
Shifting weight and sideways glancing
A steel eyed trance below twitching ears
Leisurely foraging forward, unchallenged
His ancient waterhole journey begins

WOW Edmund. I like your poem AND especially love your sketch. You are uniquely talented. There is such expression in the Rhino portrait. I like the shading as well as the detail in the skin. I love the line 'dusty mountain moving.' Well done.
