Southern Motherland Poem by Kelly Boutin

Southern Motherland

wrapped in Southern melody
high up in a willow tree
swinging gently in the breeze
snugged away like babies
in Mother's gentle hands
we sleep safely
In our Southern Motherland.

Cicadas hum in their sleep
as fireflies dance to the beat
of this sweet Southern Dixie,
everyone is at peace
and we all understand
we'll always have a family
in our Southern Motherland.

With drops of sweet mulberry
as kisses in our gentle dreams
and clovers riding peacefully
down the honeysuckle stream
we nestle deep in our Mother's branch
as she weeps tenderly,
our Southern Motherland.
