Sovereignty Poem by Mark Hopwood

Sovereignty

Don't turn your head away from us
And don't ignore our disturbed voices
Go ahead, dictate your party politics to yourselves
But know your not leaving many choices.
Look back on your 'achievements'
Just what is it you've gained?
Only hatred from your people and public
And from all the scapegoats you've blamed.

And there's Disappointment all around us
Because you were given power but caused a blackout
Sitting silent in all of your Hopelessness
With your foot in your mouth so we can't hear you shout.

Don't turn your heads away from them
They need our help so lend your hand
But no, you hesitate and don't help their needs
You stole the great from Britain and sold the Eng from land.
Look back on our 'great nation'
You can't like what you see
Degradation and misery everywhere
People long for the day when they can be free.

And there's disappointment all around us
Because you were given the power, but you caused a blackout
Sitting silent in all of your Helplessness
With your foot in our mouth so you can't hear us shout.

Don't pretend you know what your doing
We all know you haven't got a clue
We've seen and heard enough of your lies
I bet you don't even know what you've done or will do.
Just look at this 'united kingdom'
So divided and broken beyond repair
Everyone is so distant from each other
This you would see if you just stopped and stared.

And there's disappointment all around you
Cos we let the power slip through our fingers
Sitting in silence in all of our hopelessness
The only truth ... Devastation lingers.
