Sphinx-Like Poem by Doris Cornago

Sphinx-Like

Photo credit to Gustavo Perez but here's my poem:

Only
Tonight
Your ghostly
Barren branches
Felt my frozen heart,
Warmed it enough and
Made it dance to the sigh
Of dead leaves, hiding nine
Vipers waiting in tall grasses
Pleading trees, please forgive
My trespasses, spare me from
Lying caustic tongues, hinder
My enemy by your embrace
Safe in your forever home
Wishing to be left alone
My mind closes up to
Be like a headstone
Among the living
Transformation
Is the notion
Homeward
With God

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Be who you are. That's the question though, to be or not to be. My heart goes out to you. Please see yourself in the poem abd be comforted that there is a tribe waiting for you.
