Spite And Bite Poem by Hannington Mumo

Spite And Bite

Granny said in the world
(Whether this or the next!)
You have to bite or you’re bitten;
It’s you to smite or you’re smitten.

“Be first to inject the venom of spite,
Or another this benefit will take
And with theirs yours blight,
And its blades lose the sting! ”

“Be foremost in your haste for hate,
Or this you do and it be too late,
And you lose the satisfaction of torture;
Be first to malign at first sight;
All this do with all your might! ’’

And a good example she played,
In hating and biting she always led!
